Location and Size

Nestled on Taveuni, Fiji’s third-largest island, Bouma National Heritage Park covers approximately 80% of the island, covering around 150 square kilometers (57 square miles) of majestic terrain. Established in 1990, this protected preserve is a demonstration of the harmonious partnership between local communities and the Fijian and New Zealand governments.

Natural Features

Covered in an dark green cloak of lush rainforests, coastal forests, and mountain landscapes, Bouma National Heritage Park is home to Uluinggalau, the island’s highest peak, soaring 1,241 meters (4,072 feet) above the sea. Lake Tagimaucia, named after Fiji’s national flower that blooms around its shores, is a tranquil haven nestled within the park’s heart.

Attractions

Tavoro Waterfalls, a trio of cascading wonders, beckons visitors to partake in an unforgettable experience. The Lower Bouma Falls, a 24-meter (79-foot) high spectacle, is accessible via a 10-minute walk, while the Middle and Upper Falls require longer, more leisurely hikes to reach.

Hiking Trails

Vidawa Rainforest Trail, a half-day hike through the rainforest, leads adventurers to ancient village sites, where history and mystery converge. The Lavena Coastal Walk, a scenic coastal trail, winds its way to a breathtaking waterfall, offering stunning ocean views along the way.
