Things to Do in Nadi, Fiji:
A Local Guide to the Best Experiences
Most visitors treat Nadi as a transit stop. It isn’t one. The area around Nadi and Denarau is home to sugarcane foothills, ancient Hindu temples, volcanic mud pools, world-class surf breaks, and a local culture that most resort tourists never get close to.
We run guided e-bike tours and boat charters out of Nadi, so we know the area better than most. This is our honest, local guide to the best things to do in Nadi — activities worth your time, from people who are here every day.
Things to Do in Nadi

Ride an e-bike through Sabeto Hills
If you do one active thing in Nadi, make it this. Our guided e-bike tour takes you off the main road and into the Sabeto countryside: through sugarcane fields, past rocky streams, and into the kind of Fijian landscape that resort postcards never show.
The e-bikes handle the hills, so no fitness level or cycling experience is required. Local guides lead the way, sharing stories about the land, the seasons, and the communities that farm it. During cutting season you’ll ride past workers harvesting cane. During mango season you’ll stop beneath trees heavy with fruit. Every ride is a little different.
Fresh bu (young coconut) is included along the route. The whole experience wraps up before midday, making it a perfect morning activity before an afternoon at the beach or a flight out.
Rated 5 stars and recommended by 100% of travelers who’ve ridden with us.
Soak in the Sabeto Mud Pool and Hot Springs
A short drive from Nadi town, the Sabeto Hot Springs are one of those Fiji experiences that surprise first-timers. Cover yourself in natural volcanic mud, let it dry in the sun, then rinse off in a series of thermal pools at different temperatures. It’s playful, social, and reportedly excellent for your skin.
Go early to beat the tour bus crowds. It pairs well with the e-bike tour for a full Sabeto morning.
Visit the Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple
The most striking building in Nadi isn’t a resort or a beach bar. It’s this. The Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple at the southern end of Queens Road is one of the largest Hindu temples in the Southern Hemisphere. Its painted Dravidian towers are covered in intricate carvings of deities, warriors, and mythological figures — genuinely breathtaking, and unlike anything else in the Pacific.
Dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered), remove your shoes before entering, and avoid taking photos inside. Guided tours run from 8:30am. Allow about 45 minutes and a small entry fee.
Explore the Garden of the Sleeping Giant
Set against the green Sabeto hills, this botanical garden holds over 2,000 varieties of orchids and an impressive collection of tropical and indigenous plants. Founded by American actor Raymond Burr in 1977 and donated to Fiji, it’s now one of the most peaceful stops near Nadi.
Visit in the morning while it’s cool. The canopy-covered boardwalks and lily pond walk are the highlights. Allow around an hour.
Take a Day Cruise to the Mamanuca Islands
Denarau Marina is your launchpad for the Mamanuca Islands, and a half or full-day boat charter is the definitive Fiji island experience. Our snorkelling tours depart from Naisoso Marina in Nadi with small groups (maximum 9), heading out to coral reefs and clear water with stand-up paddleboarding and swimming along the way.
Stops can include Cloud 9, Musket Cove, or Treasure Island for lunch. The Mamanucas are genuinely stunning: volcanic peaks, thriving coral gardens, and exactly the turquoise water you came to Fiji for.
Walk Through Nadi Market
Spend 30 minutes in Nadi Market before or after your other activities. Stalls overflow with tropical fruit, fresh vegetables, kava root, coconut oil, and handwoven crafts. It’s colorful, chaotic, and entirely un-touristy. Buy a bag of fresh fruit, talk to the vendors, and get a feel for daily Nadi life that no resort activity can replicate.
Best in the morning when produce is freshest and the market is at its liveliest.
Go Surfing in the Mamanucas
Fiji has some of the world’s best reef breaks, and they’re accessible from Nadi by boat in under an hour. Our surf charters take small groups to breaks chosen based on the day’s swell conditions, including spots near Cloudbreak, Namotu Lefts, and Tavarua Rights when conditions allow.
Boats are fully equipped with a cooler, water, snacks, and local knowledge. Bring your own board. Best suited to intermediate and experienced surfers.
Book a Fishing Charter
A 4 or 6-hour fishing charter out to the Mamanuca reefs is a great day for anyone who’d rather be on the water than in it. Trolling, casting, handline fishing: the options suit any experience level. Local captains know where the fish are, and the boat is stocked with ice, water, and snacks. Charters depart from Naisoso Marina.
End the Day on a Sunset Cruise
For your last evening in Nadi, or any evening, a 2-hour sunset cruise from Naisoso Marina is one of the most relaxing things you can do here. Small group (maximum 9), paddleboarding and swimming if you want to be active, cold drinks and snacks included, and Fiji sunsets that are every bit as good as they look.
Departs at 4pm daily. Book ahead during dry season (May to October).
Share Kava at a Local Village
Kava is Fiji’s national drink, and sharing it in a genuine village setting is a different experience from a resort performance. The ceremony involves grinding kava root, mixing it in a tanoa (wooden bowl), and passing it in a coconut shell cup around a circle. Clap once before drinking, say “Bula”, drain the shell in one go, and clap three times.
Dress modestly, bring a small gift of kava root (sevusevu) for the village chief, and let your guide lead the way. Ask your hotel activity desk or tour operator to arrange a genuine village visit.
Go White-water Rafting in the Grand Canyon
Experience the thrill of white-water rafting on Viti Levu’s Upper Navua River, known as Fiji’s ‘Grand Canyon.’ Navigate through volcanic rock-walled gorges, pristine rainforests, and witness abundant wildlife in this spectacular natural wonder.
