Frequently Asked Questions

What level of cycling do I need to have?

Cycling is woven into the itinerary, getting from one destination to the next (but an experience on its own!). There will be 5 days of riding, ranging from 18km to 54kms a day. The riding is a mix of gravel roads, paved roads and off-road tracks.

You need to be confident on a bike and comfortable riding in an active group. This trip, however, is not about performance or pushing limits and conquering long distances.

Good to know:

  • Everyone rides at their own pace
  • E-bikes support the riding and conserve energy
  • All rides are guided by a local guide
  • Support vehicle is always present
  • Routes are fully planned and guided

Who is this tour best suited to?

This journey suits curious, active travellers who love exploring a country by bicycle and enjoy stepping outside their comfort zone in a balanced, thoughtful way.

It suits people who have an adventurous spirit, value culture and connection, enjoy nature and remote places, and appreciate thoughtful comfort.

Based on previous guests, this tour typically suits active travellers aged roughly 40–70, with some off-road riding confidence.

How much does it cost?

The price for the full trip is $4,400 AUD per person, based on double occupancy. If you book solo and prefer private accommodation there is a single supplement of $600 AUD.

What about food & drinks?

Get ready to eat well. From tropical fruit at breakfast to fresh fish on the coast, farm meals in the countryside and a feast in a Fijian village, the food on this journey is a highlight in itself.

Dietary requirements? Just let us know when you book and we will discuss how best to meet your requests.

Most meals are included throughout the trip. During rides, energy snacks and hydration are provided to keep you going. Alcohol and a small number of meals are at your own cost.

What should I know about the village visit?

Visiting a traditional Fijian village is one of the most meaningful parts of this trip and one that stays with you long after you’ve returned home. Fijian villages operate on a foundation of community, respect and tradition, and being welcomed into that world is a unique opportunity.

Before you arrive, you’ll be briefed by your guide on village protocol. The most important custom is the sevusevu — a ceremonial offering of kava root presented to the village chief upon arrival. This is not a tourist performance; it is a real and respected tradition that formally asks permission to enter the village and signals your goodwill as a guest. Your guide will prepare the kava and walk you through it.

What to wear: Dress modestly when entering a village. Shoulders should be covered and skirts or shorts should fall below the knee. Remove your hat when entering the village; wearing a hat is considered disrespectful.

How to behave: Move slowly, speak gently, and follow your guide’s lead. Fijian village life moves at its own pace. You’ll likely be invited to sit, share kava and talk with locals. Pointing your feet at people while seated is considered rude, so sit cross-legged where possible.

What to expect: Village homes are modest and life is centred around family, the church and the land. Children are curious and friendly. You may be invited to see how local food is prepared, observe daily routines, or simply sit and share stories. There is no agenda just genuine human connection.

This is not a staged cultural show. It is real Fijian life, and your presence as a respectful guest is genuinely appreciated by the communities we visit.

Where do we stay?

We have carefully curated accommodation across the journey that reflects the character and spirit of each location.

The mix includes a private villa, Naveria Heights boutique lodge, Nukubati Island Resort and authentic village homestay at Vuadomo village with a budget stop at Grand Eastern Hotel in Labasa, where options are more limited. Please note these are all subject to availability.

Prices are based on double occupancy. Single supplement is available at +$600.

A note on the village homestay: This is one of the most memorable nights of the trip but it is also the most rustic. Village life means early mornings with roosters, kids playing, foam mattresses and a basic fan. It is real, warm and genuinely special.

If you prefer a little more comfort that night, we offer an alternative stay at a nearby location at an additional cost. We can discuss options upon booking.

What's the weather like?

Fji has a tropical climate. Expect warm temperatures year-round, usually 26–32°C during the day. The dry season runs from April to October, bringing warm, sunny days with lower humidity and calm seas making it the ideal window for cycling and outdoor exploration. Nevertheless, especially in Vanua Levu there are chances of an afternoon shower even in dry season.

The ocean is warm year-round (around 27°C). Perfect for snorkeling.
